For Marc, getting it right requires a little bit of wrong. “I see beauty in many things and i am attracted to all sorts of imperfection, to style, to confidence or experimentation. It’s unexpected and surprises you.” Inspiration stems from the spirit of “the girl” and her makeup ritual. “I think the idea of transforming into this person you want to be, is a lot of fun…it’s the idea of a young woman enjoying creating her look, getting ready for her night out, or her night after her night out.”

Marc JacobsMarc Jacobs was born in New York City on April 9, 1963. After graduating from the High School of Art and Design in 1981 he entered Parson’s School of Design. As a design student at Parson’s, Jacobs was the recipient of some of the school’s highest honors including Design Student of the Year.


In 1984 Jacobs designed his first collection with the Marc Jacobs label. The following year, Jacobs received the distinct honor of being the youngest designer ever to be awarded the fashion industry’s highest tribute: The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent.


With over 200 free standing stores across the globe, Marc Jacobs International now includes Women’s and Men’s RTW and accessories, a children’s line called Little Marc Jacobs, multiple award winning fragrances, the bookstore Bookmarc and most recently Marc Jacobs Beauty. Spring 2014 marked Jacobs’ final collection for Louis Vuitton, as he directs his focus solely on his namesake label.


Jacobs and Duffy continue to run the company and are committed to giving back to the communities where they have stores and beyond. They have been involved with over 100 charities worldwide and the ongoing support of many of these charitable projects—as well as new collaborations--continues to be a top priority.
